STREETS OF SORROW (aka "THE STREET OF SORROWS" or "JOYLESS STREET")
Starring Greta Garbo
MOTION PICTURE MAGAZINE
October, 1927

This is a German film, starring Greta Garbo, and it is not nearly so good as many of the foreign films shown in this country in the past, many of the reviewers say. Quinn Martin, the World's critic, says that the picture "is the least meritorious German picture play which I have seen this year . . ." The American's critic points out that Miss Garbo should appreciate the lighting systems in American studios, for "she is not the alluring lady in this old film that she is in "Flesh and the Devil" nor nearly so good an actress." The piece, directed by G.W. Pabst, is melodrama of post-war intrigue in Vienna.
