"Stardust and
Shadows: Canadians in Early Hollywood"
by Charles Foster (Dundurn Press, 2000, 408 pages)
It's really amazing the number of Candians who were
who not just minor players, but major players in the history of
early cinema. This is second book of this format to come along
in the past two years (Jeanine Basinger's Silent Stars
being the other) but with the unique "Canadian" theme
this time. Divided into individual chapters which serve as mini-biographies
of 18 influential personalities from the first 30 years of motion
pictures, this book is the result of 50 years of research by the
author and provide enjoyable reading. Highly recommended!! FOR
